You must not have had the disease went did in ne iowa. Yields are way down, fungicide or not. I put on all acres and 200 is top I've done some custom without in the 140s.

I live in NE IA. We did but we sprayed everything at least twice. Some three times. I plan for two passes post tassel even though some years, its not necessary. Two passes paid no question, three - I haven't analyzed the data yet. Not done yet but we will end up second best farm wide average at about 13 over APH. Amazing what a $5 pass of a qeneric quilt can do.

My point is you can't fill kernels you don't have. And record NVDI levels across the cornbelt during late June, all of July and Part of August, probably set record kernel numbers. There are areas that finished poor for sure but there are areas that did not have the disease we did. The cornbelt is not just Iowa and Illinois anymore. But during years with low NVDI levels, you not only set less kernels, you also do not have the healthy plant right from the start so making those few kernels make up for the ones that didnt form, is difficult- especially if people aren't spraying fungicide. In addition, its likely that less people will spray fungicide on a crop that looks poor than one that looks healthy.

Take care
