Subject: Ditching ground to drain does it work?

west central mo
I farm some bottoms that need tiled, but thats not an option for now. I have just tons of zeros and thin stands in spots because of it being wet gumbo. I was thinking about buying a 3 point ditcher and cutting ditcher every 120 feet. I have a 40 foot planter and 30 foot header, so thought that would be the best width. I was going to cut ditches to the road ditch. Im gonna assume start shall on one end and deeper at the road ditch so water runs to it. Will this work? How deep do you cut them?
