Nusbaum Farms LLC Bellfountain, OR | I agree on the flex issues if he was talking about a 86X0. The 8430 just didn't suffer from that as much. Mine now has 19K hours and I have never had head gasket issues on it.
Personally, I'd have a hard time changing from a known 50 year old tractor to an unknown 40 year old tractor and thinking I made much of an upgrade. If an upgrade is needed I'd be thinking of a Boxcar Magnum or 4X60 if its a MFWD job, or small frame Steiger Puma or red 9110-9130 articulated if its a 4WD job.
