Anyone claiming virtual meetings open boards and districts/govt to legal action is doing shady things at meetings.
Not necessarily. The meetings have to have a closed caption option to be ADA compliant, just like the in-person meeting has to meet those special-needs requirements. It's a hassle to record/broadcast the meeting, especially when the meetings are not in a "broadcasting studio" or move to different buildings for each meeting. Few years ago, getting captions was expensive (for good stuff) or hokey at best. Current CC options/transcripts are better IF there's good audio AND the speakers are clear and easy to understand. Plus having staff on site to handle the recording... and other excuses.
Could be shady stuff going on too, but there's more mundane issues to deal with that are probably more likely. |
