SC Kansas
Rye, I know we are in wheat country. I plant green into rye mid to late April. Use your favorite burndown and residual a week to ten days after planting. I drill about 45 lbs of rye after corn harvest, turn cows out early December, pull cows late March to early April depending on the weather. A pivot makes managing this much easier. I prefer grazing as late as possible in the spring, rye is smaller, easier to plant through. Just wait a little longer to burndown, it grows like crazy in late April, still plenty of weed suppression. Headlands are always the biggest battle. It’s not a perfect system but much cheaper the Zidua, ext.
