If you're worried, you could add an identical weight 180 degrees away from the magnet. Or you might check the "bellhousing" for a threaded port. I had an 8.3 with an allison that had the port threaded for the pickup that came off a thermoking, reads right off the ring gear teeth, just need to look up the number of teeth to set the tach.
