My only experience is with Flagship combines, and yes, they do require some maintenance at times.  My 7240 specifically needs the aspirator tube that goes from the muffler exhaust to the air cleaner cleaned out occasionally.  With 5 acres of beans to go this year my filter packed itself tight.  I cleaned the tube and harvested 1,000 acres of corn and cleaned it once but don't think it was necessary.
