Cullom, Illinois | It’s the second chain riding up and hitting the top stop. It’s common in corn, especially when your getting lots of trash. The trash balls between the two chains and causes the second one to ride up and crash down. You should notice it more mid day when the trash get fluffy and feeds in the combine in clumps. Doesn’t really hurt anything but you may want to check your chain tension springs and make sure it hasn’t jumped a tooth on one side. If it has, use a 3/4” socket under the sprocket to roll it back on.
