Central GA | You’ll probably have lots of chances to expand quickly in South Georgia in the next few years. Keep your costs down, use chicken litter, buy an air seeder or no till drill and double crop wheat and soybeans until peanut and cotton prices come back. Plan to get into corn if you can irrigate but make sure you can get it dried. You’ll need different equipment for that too. Canola has been ok for us, soybeans about the only summer crop that pencils out ok but irrigated corn is good too, just a lot more trucking and you’ll need a good 30” planter and a corn head. Custom grain harvesting is not very common in our area, cotton you can get picked no problem. Good luck! | |
