| It’s been a lifelong dream of mine to farm for myself and I may have that opportunity coming up. I don’t want any negative comments or advice, but am seeking honest advice. I am meeting with my first potential landlord, and want to be prepared to answer any of his questions, which leaves me with some questions. What crop, if any, can I grow that will actually pencil out on paper? I know times aren’t the best right now, hence this opportunity even becoming available, but I don’t want to let the opportunity pass by and kick myself for it later. Any honest, non-negative advice appreciated!
If this isn’t the right place to post, please let me know.
Location: South Georgia
Equipment:
6700 sprayer
Dji T40 Spray Drone
Nurse Tank
Gleaner F3 combine with grain head
Accumulating as I go- usually stuff that needs work that j can get cheap and repair.
Editing to add: Met with potential landlord this evening. He has roughly 300 acres of dryland fields. He wanted to know what I planned to grow that would pencil out on paper. My response- I Don’t know yet.
Trying not to get discouraged- I know the current farming economy is in the dumps, but if it weren’t, I wouldn’t have this opportunity. Praying the Lord will point me in the right direction!
