West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | If I remember correctly, BCBS of MN required a referral from my wife's general practitioner to a podiatrist,
My thoughts are is that the foot is a very complex part of the human body, and the reason a general practitioner prefer to refer more complex foot issues to a podiatrist is because a podiatrists complete four years of podiatry school where they only study the complexities of the foot and ankle in depth, including its biomechanics, nerves, and muscles.
The surgical centers around here are not hospitals. All they provide is space for surgeons to perform same day/out patient surgeries and follow up care. |
