West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | Back in the early 90s a neighbor supported their entire full two story with attic 100+ year old farmhouse with a four foot basement in place with jacks, dug out another four feet, poured a new concrete floor and eight foot concrete walls while never moving the family out of the house. The house was setting on screw jacks/temporary posts only most of one summer. Being a dairy farmer/concrete construction person he did the work himself...along with some help from friends/neighbors.
Even back then there was no way he could he have built the exact same house for the money he spent on the remodel...not even close. And the house is still standing today in great shape so I would would say his efforts were worth it. |
