My ex military son does custom tables like that for a living now , or rather he is a Custom Cabinet maker and does custom tables also. He bought a big CNC earlier this year to flatten slabs and cut cabinet parts.
He has done stuff with lots of personal items in epoxy, can work with your idea if interested.
