Subject: RE: Ice fishing plan for this winter

Strathcona, mn
It’s a long drive but a friend and I went up to lake athapapuscow lake near flin flon, Mn. We stayed at bakers narrow lodge and fished for lake trout. Lodging was very nice and we rented pop up fish house and a snowmobile from them. They have fully guided trips also. Upon arrival we had a cold front come through and on our first day of fishing the temp dropped to -30f. By their standards fishing wasn’t great but I will say I caught more lake trout through the ice than I had in my whole life combined. For the 3 days we fished the 2 of us iced about 30 lakers. We did not catch any master class fish but a lot between 5-12#. The group that was there before us and the cold front had caught 3 over 30#. Very fun trip, fishing very much reminded me of fishing while I was in college in far ne minnesota, Canadian Shield topography. Have to be open to fishing very remote and issolated.
