East of Broken Bow | If you are set on a .45, I would say about any SAA clone would be a good choice, or maybe something like a Ruger Redhawk or Bisley. I personally like Ruger revolvers because
1) they are generally built plenty strong for their caliber
2) they have a lifetime no BS warranty that they actually stand behind. I know a guy who got something lodged in the end of his rifle barrel, and it bulged when he shot it. Sent it to Ruger, who checked the action for safety, determined it to be unharmed, and installed a new barrel on his rifle for free (and the damage was 100% his fault).
Now, if you are not dead set on a .45, might I make a suggestion?
A while ago, I bought a Ruger 'convertible' revolver. Came with 2 cylinders fitted to the gun, one in .357/.38 special, the other in 9MM. Took about 30 seconds to swap out the cylinders. Can use the 9MM for practice and plinking with super cheap surplus ammo, and step up to .357 for hunting.
Conversely, if you are looking into a .45, they make revolvers that shoot .45 Colt ammo, and .410 shotshells interchangeably. Drawback is the gun is BIG for a .45 (has a LONG cylinder) but hard to beat the .410 for things like snakes. | |
