South Texas | Been running the 4 cell plates with one siliconed up for a couple of years now. Went to it for the same reason - trying to get cotton to come up through crusted ground. Planting about 55,000 population (whatever the book says, divided by 4, times 3) on 30" rows. Seems to be much more speed dependent. At 7 mph, you get lots of small singles and doubles, but not too many "3's". Had to slow down for this reason. Still like it overall, but the Schlagel closing wheels (new for this year) seem to help more than anything we've done before. Just finished planting and replanting for now - will post some pictures when it's all up good. | |
