West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | Hammer toe and/or pinched nerve? My wife couldn't wear socks, have a blanket touching her toe, and eventually could wear nothing but flip flops...even during a MN winter.
She had what appeared to be for her at least a relatively painless (not that expensive IMO) out patient based surgery on three toes. She walked under her power out of the surgical center wearing wearing a "boot" to provide support and protection for the toes the same day as surgery within an hour after surgery. She had two pinched nerves, a hammer toe and a bunion (both can cause pinched toe nerves) "fixed" and she is in better shape foot wise than she has been for a couple years.
Based on my wife's experience, my advice is go to your regular doctor and get a referral to a good foot doctor sooner than later...
Disclaimer...Your results may vary of course based on stories we have heard from other people we know who have had similar foot surgeries, but in my wife's case the surgery was no big deal (her words) and the outcome has been very good.
