Are the bales heavier if they’re pre-cut versus not?
Short answer - yes.
With most crops, the more chopped, the more product in the same space, as long as moisture and pressure is the same. Size of windrow and travel speed also figure in some. We have had some short crops that we had to take some knives out because the bale just wouldn't hold together. Like baling sawdust would be i imagine. More wraps of net can be necessary like with straw. |
