Central Nebraska

I've lost the crop insurance game more times than I've one but the few times I've won it has made up for a lot.  I have flat out told the agents I use and communicate with that I look forward to the day when crop insurance isn't subsidized and offered with so many options nobody can make a rational decision.  Between all the federal crop and private wind/hail policies there are thousands of different options for us to buy.  I speculate we'd take 8-12 million acres out of production if we went back to 100% private insurance and no trend adjusted/inflated yield opportunities.  Just let me buy X amount of dollars/acre of insurance.

Yes, this may hurt for the short term but long term would be good......and for the record I have federal crop with ECO policy and an HPP hail/wind policy on all my corn acres this year.  It looks like ECO will trigger locally.
