| In 2023, approximately 39% of SNAP recipients were children, 20% were elderly, and 10% were non-elderly individuals with a disability, totaling about 69%.
SNAP recipients have work requirements, but not all. The rules primarily apply to able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs) and require them to work or participate in a work program for at least 80 hours a month (about 20 hours per week) to receive benefits for more than three months.
