SE SD | So we got busy and I forgot to post an update. I did a few different things. I turned up the hydraulic pressure going to the gate all the way up. It didn't have much more pressure to go but that did speed up the gate.
I lowered the bale densities a lot. The previous owner had the outer density at 1500 and the inner set at 1300. I lowered the outer to 800 and the inner to 700.
I set the bale size to 70 and made sure to stop quicker.
I also began to back up a little bit while the bale was wrapping and as I dumped out the bale I would drive ahead so the bale wouldn't have a chance to stall and catch anything.
After doing this I think I only had one or 2 scuffs in the net wrap out of the last 100 bales where it partially ripped it but they might have been my own fault not paying enough attention.
I'm new to balers so I'm curious if any of this seems reasonable or if anybody is looking at this like boy this guy has no clue. Remember, I didn't have much trouble in grass and alfalfa unless it was too wet so I was surprised how much trouble the stalks gave me being so dry. Thanks for the help. | |
