I lost two old cows last week from bloat, and saved a third one in the nick of time with a syringe to let the gas off. They were in an overgrazed pasture close to the barn where we are AIing them. Had a flush of mushrooms pop up and they ate them.

I’ll stick a bloated cow quicker than you can say “well, bob’s my uncle”—-had one compacted with wheat that you could watch it rise—she’d go down—-stick finger in, let gas off, resume walk in—she’d go down——crammed handle of 12” crescent in there to keep holes lined up—only thing handy—-fine the next day—-chrome no more on crescent—-hell, they keep opening in cows rumen open and take daily feed eaten samples outa it—-you ain’t gonna kill em by sticking—-kinda a hip—rib—spine-triangle—poke the center

Prevention—-I’ve posted many times—cup of dry—no bleach—-laundry detergent to sack of salt—-in system before 3rd cutting, etc—-works for me

Ps—-I’m addressing frothy bloat
