 | I know this is an old thread, but inserts help a lot, but most inserts I get do not have a high enough arch. I found a shoe store that has arch lifts that make the inserts higher and that helps a bunch. What I have noticed is once the inserts get wore down, I start having heel pain again. I recently went to the Omaha Zoo with the family. That meant a lot of walking on hard surfaces. If I walk on the dirt or grass, my heels do not bother much, but hard concrete is brutal. After walking a bit on the hard paths in the zoo, I was wishing I had gotten new inserts before the trip. I decided to address the situation with what I had, so rolled the top of my socks down and bunched them up under the arch in the center of my foot and started walking. I had to adjust them a bit to get them comfortable, but I walked all day that way on hard paths without much trouble at all. I was even able to carry our 2 year old part of the time. I figured out that if my arch is just slightly uncomfortable, I can avoid the brutal pain in my heel. | |
