 | May be a whole different world, but my vet advised keeping coarse barn lime available free choice for my feedlot critters to keep their guts healthy and avoid bloat. It has worked. 
 He said the bloat I was seeing was related to weather shifts that made the cattle binge eat at various times. (Smidley Stuffers so no love from NAT)
 
 The feed company guy said it was a waste of time, and I should free-choice sodium bicarb. The vets response was that the barn lime is cheap and palatable. So far so good. It is interesting to see how the cattle will clean up the lime at carrying rates.
