 | I remember one year (probably around 2014) we had a lot of rain in June and plenty of standing water, so put on a pair of chest waders to go check tile intakes. Walking through the flooded areas where the ground had been worked with the disk ripper the fall before was a chore, felt like an oversized corrugated tin roof underneath. Realized I was going through water plus 5-10" of very soft muck with every step and the only firm soil was below what the shanks had disturbed. Fall of 2016 the combine would sink down to that level and certain directions it would just slide and follow the ripper path.
Sometimes that ground just gets too soft.
