| In 2013 I bought a 2011 S650 Bobcat with less than 600 hours. My intended use was cutting pasture cedar trees with a shear. I looked at used Bobcats and Cats, but the ones I saw were pretty much used up and used hard. Then I ran across the one I ended up buying and it was almost like new, light use feeding buffalo, but no construction. I agree with others, if you buy used, scope them out carefully. I grew up on a M600 Bobcat, so Bobcat was an easy choice for me but to be honest it was the cleanest used machine I had found, and if it would have been a Cat, JD or Kubota I would have bought it based on how clean it was. It has performed very well. Our pasture has hills, and the S650 is 6 inches wider than an S185, and has more power and more lift capacity, and I have appreciated the extra stability and lift capacity. I'd get another one in a heartbeat. I really like the Kubota engine, but I know nothing about the engines used in Bobcats now. I'd also suggest getting something with more capacity than the bare minimum you need, you will end up using it for a lot more than you can imagine. | |
