Kingdom of Callaway - Fulton, Mo 65251 | We bought a new hold over 460 Deere with the chopping pick up this spring. Love it. I had a Vermeer with the chopping pick up before the Deere. I will never buy a round baler without it. It takes more horsepower, its more expensive, you have to buy blades, but guess what? It just flat works like a dream. We get lots more hay in a dry bale, for silage bales you get less air in them, if it plugs, you drop the floor, and it mixes up so much faster in a TMR. Win, win, win, win, win!
Im feeding right now some rained on alfalfa bales that are really gummy, and hard to mix in the TMR. Half the bales we ran the knives, and half we didnt. The chopped bales cut the mixing time by over half.
You will not regret it.
