NorthWest Indiana | Keeping our Jerseys in ranked just above trying to keep goats in. Don't know why. We don't have any and haven't had any for about 5 years now. Our Holsteins raised right along side the Jerseys, same wire training, those buggers would be out or at least one would be out average one every other week. When my girls were little, we kept having one get out and couldn't figure it out. Happened to be raking hay in the next field over and saw this Jersey watching towards the barn. About then he scooted between the high tensile wires and was out along the road. That calf had learned that the girls going in the barn in the evening/late afternoon meant the wire would get shut off! You could call him and he would run to the driveway, run down it to the pasture gate and walk in like he owned the place. Well the next night the girls walked in the barn and ran to the end to watch him get shocked because they left the wire on. Last time he was out. It's not that they are dumb, some are to smart for their own good. | |
