So as an example a calf born in Montana and purchased by a feedlot in southern Alberta, that area has imported a tremendous amount of US corn in the last 5 years (probably some out of Nebraska), the calf gets fed there and then exported back and processed in the US (fairly common), that prime genetics corn fed beef would go on the shelf as product of Canada??
At one time they wanted label to say born in USA fed in Canada slaughtered in USA and the beef kept separate on kill floor. |
