| I am sure if you go to a dealer or watch Craigslist, Facebook that you can buy 12 or a 16 foot trailer new or used, like Jim says talk to the sale barn they will point you in the direction of a trucker, Waukon and Zumbrota always have for me. I have never noticed that a nice group of calves gets docked too severly based on size, at least around here. When I went to Zumbrota I had 30-40 mixed gender/size calves and was never too far back from the top, sometimes top one size/gender segment of the sale, and mine are mixed red/black to boot. Key is go to a barn that is a bit smaller that is not accustomed to selling 50 to 100 calves per group, go to sale before you commit to that sale and watch how they do things. The year I went to Waukon I went to a couple of barns, learned a lot from watching. Waukon probably still cost me a couple thousand, but was not horrible, just does not give me the desire to go back anytime soon. | |
