Subject: Dawn trash wheels with coulter

Wright County, MN

Thinking about adding a set to my JD1760.  Cant find any info about them here.  I only run a few hundred acres so the best of the best doesn't pencil out.  Currently running airbags for downforce.  3bu boxes make me plenty heavy when full.  Planter is outfitted with liquid so being heavy enough shouldn't be an issue...maybe.  I have a random mix of Dawn, Martin and I think a Yetter or 2 for row cleaners now.  Wouldn't hurt to update a few of them, that's what got me looking.

Would be mainly for planting beans into heavy cornstalk residue.  Doing some experimenting with ryegrass this fall.  Might be more of that in the future.  Ground is typically prepped in the spring with a Krause Excellerator.  Fall tillage is usually the Ex.  Ripped occassionally with JD2700.

Multiple sets available relatively close to home for $150ea.

I'm thinking the coulter would help make a nicer seedbed?  Maybe it's a non issue.  Since getting the Ex, bean yields have been better than before.  Residue hasn't bothered beans at all and JD1760 seems to do OK as is.

Or, as typically happens, it would go the other way and I'd like them more for no-tilling corn into soybean stubble.  I dunno.

Opinions?

Thanks
