Now I'm all sorts of confused but it makes sense that a pasture mix would be in that 25lb area. Just that pasture mixes I'm familiar with wouldn't be a blend like you'd seed you're lawn with but would have Orchard grass, Timothy, and clover in it. Maybe even a little alfalfa. Pasture mixes typically don't get established super fast either and come in fuller on year 2 after being seeded with a cover, like oats if done in the spring.

I'd still overseed it at the same time though cause time is not on your side to get it mature enough before your show.

About your only other option would be to seed something like teff grass just for the year to get a cover for your show and then retry again next fall with the blend you want.
