Years ago we had fertilizer company spread the wheat and we disc it in with a disc that did a less than desirable job of leveling. We didn’t have a drill at the time. Some wheat barely covered , some 3” deep. Seems like it all came up. Maybe we used 10-20# more than if we were drilling. Yields were decent. 1-2” deep should be fine.
