Southern Alberta | Air outside at night is cool and humidity is high, but there is not much moisture in it because the “pores” are small (area between molecules)
Once cool air hits the warmer grain in the bin, the air expands and has a lot more room to pick up more moisture. This moisture pickup is what dries the grain and makes it safe to run the fans overnight in the higher humidity.
You need to look at the emc on a calculator that shows what happens when you add heat (either grain dryer or from heat of grain).
As grain cools closer to overnight temps you do not run the fans. | |
