We used to go down to Oklahoma City and go across but the last couple years go 400 to 54 and down to Tucumcari at 40 then on to Lake Havasu City. We like the latter route. More non interstate but still good roads.
Will be there pestering Lowell for four weeks. The house we rent is about a block from his.
