Subject: RE: arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF)?

Northeast, Nebraska
It depends if the phosphorus is plant available. So far we have only seen the relationship slowed when orthos are applied infurrow. We tell our customers that we recommend they don't put phos in furrow when adding mycorrhizal products even though some do and still see the symbiotic relationship form, it just may be delayed until the plant is having trouble finding readily available phosphorus. I have only seen it once where the relationship didn't form. Fertilizers can also kill some of the mycorrhiza that is mixed with it or reduce the spores counts of viable organisms. We tell guys if they mix with fertilizer. Apply it asap and try not to leave it set overnight mixed.
