NW Wisconsin | You hit the nail on the head with your first post above - it's all about foliar applying nutrients that make sense either from a deficiency standpoint or key timing standpoint. Outside of tissue tests or visual clues of deficiencies, I am a big believer in foliar potassium. Our soils up here are already starved for it, and by the time you hit late summer even if you applied 500 ton of potash that plant is still typically going to be hungry for it. It makes even more sense when you look at what K does for the plant around grain fill etc- both soybeans and corn will consistently benefit from it especially around tassel/flowering. Not trying to get on a soap box, but just agreeing foliars have places they can be successful. Now when the Coron salesman comes by and tells you that you need more N when you know damn well you already applied enough, yes they are full of it. | |
