NW Wisconsin | In my opinion, there are a couple considerations: What is your spray situation like? If I hire it out, I would lean towards Enlist.. if not I do my own I would lean towards XF. Three years ago I would have said yield wise I would opt for Xtend/XF all day, but I think E3's have caught up a lot in the last couple years as the regulatory side of things has forced a focus on them as Dicamba gets hammered. That is a whole other can of worms as I haven't been around XF or applying over the top dicamba products in beans for a couple years, but I would again lean towards E3 just for a little more confidence in what I am going to be able to use if necessary.
Overall I would opt for Enlist beans and just try to work with my seed person/people on what does well in the area. Things can move quickly with the genetics and those companies are always looking for another bushel or two, but there are usually proven options right next to anything new in maturity... whether or not they want to actively present that as an option to you/talk about it of course depends on the rep. I would really look at what else could be causing that lack of stress tolerance outside of just purely genetics... but it is certainly a possibility that is the main problem. | |
