south central IOWA | It'll work with mixed results. Every year is different weather so some years are better than others but for the most part, you'll get about a 50% stand. Be quick to overseed in the spring has given me good results on a fall seeded lawn that poorly germinated in the fall due to lack of moisture before it got cold.
And if you can put matting down, it'll help in multiple ways.
