A local established farmer ….here…. always went as high as it took to win cash rent auctions. He told me it wasn’t about him making a profit off the farm, it was about nobody else making a profit off the farm.
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. If you can't be reasonably assured of an income, why would you do it?
Plan on making it up on volume. ;
