And that's what it comes down to now - laptops are the primary computer for most people. Gamers still want the bleeding edge video cards that take a hefty power supply and cooling to run, but for most people, a laptop is more than enough now, and many laptops are now able to drive a 27" external screen for when you want to work on a desk. 

You and I share the same opinion on laptops: Apple builds a better laptop that works more reliably than anyone else. I just retired my previous Macbook Pro and bought a M3 Macbook Pro to replace it. The previous Macbook pro still works, just needs a new battery (and maybe a new keyboard since I've work off the letters on many of the keys), but it still works perfectly. I bought it new in 2013. 12 years is a long time for a laptop to last. 

I have PC laptops, but Microsoft's updates and what they break with respect to drivers and utility software (eg, the drivers needed to update my Bendix-King fire radio HT) is infuriating. The hardware is OK. Microsoft is the problem.
