Yes...years ago...
Burned the stubble off...went in with a lister (know what one of those are ?)...used Cargill 187 sunflowers...no fert...no nothing.. did about 700 pounds.
Today seed is $300 a bag.
Do your homework...they now have dwarf flowers..get about 36 to 46 inches tall...also have short season...around mcpherson there was talk of a fellow with a certain variety that could plant it warly...get one crop...and plant it again and get another. Contact sunflower assn...getting rid of it...I think cva has a couple of locations that take them...ask...
Biggest problem I had with flowers is cutting them..but that was with the tall ones...the short might be differt...might look at getting some "sunflower pans" to put on a headder...try a little patch first and learn...they are pretty....and the roots will help break up hard pans.

(OH I think the supper short season flower was mycogen...God only knows what sack it's in now)
