Electrolysis between the 2 metals along with road dirt and salt causes the corrosion. You don't even have to go 2 turns loose, just so it isnt snug to the rim and the rim can move a little around on the hub piolet.
On our Impalas, I have sanded the piolet hole out just so it loosened up enough to fit. They don't seem to get stuck tight anymore.
