Russ how much did a calf sell for forty years ago when you could get a big night on the town for $50? How many calves to buy a pickup truck back then?

The price of beef is not “too high” lol. We haven’t even gotten to a point that we are truly rebuilding the heard yet.


In 1998, if I remember correctly, my 4-h fat calves brought 68 cents per pound. At the fair premium auction, I think my calves garnered another 3-4 cents per pound….. gross was like 72-73 cents - LOST money….

Actually sucked.

And, it did leave a taste in my mouth too.
