| It wasn't me saying beef was too high...it was someone back east.
But..I have to say hamburger $5.99 a pound locally at thr grocery store I think is a bit much...when a better cut is is a hair over $1 a pound more. Yes for the less than well off families...yes it can hurt a bit...especially when you want to have hamburger and French fry night.
As for "the cost if things now"...and some posts...it depends how you look at things and price them...first...sorry but I would not spend $250 for supper...nor drinks for $50...As for young people out blowing money like drunken sailers...depends on who's money they are spending.
We need to stop saying convince stores...gas stions and truck stops represent the current market...the local convenience store charges $2.59 for a plastic bottle of pop...you can go to the grocery store and get a 6 pack of the same thing for about $6.25.
Things way over priced....but people buy because might be the only option. I agree alot of this "junk food" per pound is higher than beef...the potato chips...over $6 a pound (sorry potato farmers)..but the store brand is $1.99 for 7.5 oz.
But...you can do sorta ok still...breakfast...locally always save 42 oz oatmeal 3.29...eggs 2.65 cream of wheat 5.29 (i think that is high considering where wheat is at) milk 449 gallon...always save bacon 3.69...store gound sausage 3.69#....dinner and supper..have mashed potatoes and gravy 10# potatoes 3.69...frozen mixed veg 2.69 for 32 oz...chicken breast 3.69#...pork chops..also 3.69# round steak 7.99....and to round out your meal...cake mixes choc about $2 a box...German chocolate frosting a little under $3 a can...and don't forget the ice cream...gallon of blue bunny vanilla or choc ice cream $7.99
So I can have just as good food as lost wages never for a whole lot less. Yes some families are hurting..but food costs are just part of the problem...yes groceries have went up...and I don't believe the increased cost has went into the farmwr pocket
If you want to look at increases...autos...auto repairs..housing...healthcare...and the ""keeping up with the jones""
Just my opinion
