Subject: RE: Fall tillage soybean ground?

Coles County, Illinois
Here most soybean stubble is worked. I just disk it but I wait until I see Henbit emerge so sometimes I get rained out and don't get it done. Neighbors are mostly in two groups as most have a VT disk now. One group VT's their cornstalks a couple times in the fall and many of them deep rip their bean stubble. The other group VT's their bean stubble and deep work their corn stalks. I will say the VT disks leave more soybean residue on top. Although I think they compact more than a conventional disk the residue protects the soil from water erosion better and they cover ground faster. The downside is they aren't killing much Henbit.
