Subject: RE: Stock cows in dry lot or confinement?

NE Iowa
I dry lot 60 head. We farm 2k acres just my dad and I along with some seasonal help. Also have 4800 pigs to manage. Along with 7 kids. So dry lotting helps me alot with time management and feeding fast everyday. Hard to find pasture anymore around here and if you it cost alot. My place is an old dairy farm. Got alot of cattle sheds and alot of old cement. But they have the option to go on dirt and I have some grass along a creek. Winter time they get locked up or I put a hot wire on stalks for a few months. My neighbors north of me in the hills are always chasing cows. Only time I am is if I leave a gate open :/
