Just a few prices I remember, mid 80's was working part time mechanic $5-6 wage going to college. Had a brand new stripped down Chevy 2 wheel drive truck around $8,300 new. I would take my girlfriend at the time out to dinner two of us could eat at a nice chain restaurant two complete meals for $5. That girlfriend became my wife, we talked about dinner and show pricing last night per dinner conversation. Time I spent in oil feild work wheil going to college I started out at double a skilled wage of mechanics just as a grunt for $10 per hour doing anything from running dozer to loader or shovel.

I remember sell Holstein steer 6 wts. In ealry 90's for 40-45 cents a pound. I remember buying a brand new GMC 6.5 Turbo diesel 4x4 regular cab for $20,500 in 93'. From then on it seemed every time I traded trucks they went up 10 grand every 4-5 years. If I recall that time frame 20-30 cents price differential between Holstein and colored beef calves.

Today's pricing is all related to current salaries and disposable income. We as a small sector of farming community don't see it day to day on the farm. Because we raise our beef, lamb, buy veggies from neighbors that grow, etc. But you darn well know what the price of a combine is, because your paying for union worker's wages to put a car or equipment together. That worker was at Las Vegas last night parting it up.

Now is the ag sectors time to get union wages. Live it up guys, because it will change some up and down but at a new economic level. Gone are the days of 5 cent candy bars and nickel pops. That ended in around 1960'. In MGM Grand the other night and candy bar big size was 5 bucks.
