SE Nebraska | I planted alfalfa on the acres about 8 years ago and now stand is getting thin and need to look at options to break up alfalfa cycle so can reseed to alfalfa. Cut alfalfa yesterday so plan to bale this week. Thinking about discing it to level field out and try to kill remaining alfalfa and weeds going into winter. First thought is to plant soybeans next spring, but the problem is spraying herbicide is not an option as there are a lot of grapes close by. Didn’t know if I could get by finding a cultivator and keeping weeds out with it. Second would be to plant it to teff grass and hay it for the season and then replant to alfalfa in the fall. | |
