Must have been a carry over 88.  55s came out in 89.   But it does have the good front axel that 88 50s had.  I have 1 of those also,,, and 8 more 4450/55s.
Check the water pump weep hole. make sure it is open, & put a small piece of foam in to keep the mud daubers from plugging the weep hole.
